Reference
the Empress of Asia [16,909 tons] was built in 1912 and converted to an Armed Merchant Cruiser in 1914 when most of CP's fleets were requisitioned for the war. It was returned to its owners in 1916, became a troopship in 1941, was bombed & sunk in Singapore in 1942.
